Coach Holt was born and raised in Quincy Florida. Jamaal Holt is a class of 2000 graduate of James A. Shanks High School where he was also a member of the school’s football team serving as a team captain, while playing Defensive End and Offensive tackle. During his High school career his teams participated in the State Playoffs every season.
A key player for the team Mr. Holt received several individual accolades. His list of athletic accolades included All-State football honors 1999, All district, All-Big Bend, and All county Honors. His biggest award came in the form of an Athletic Scholarship to Troy University in Troy Alabama. Mr. Holt chose Troy University over several other college offers. At Troy University Mr. Holt was a part of the most successful class in school history at the time of his graduation, winning the Southland Conference Championship in 2000 and participating in the school’s first bowl game in 2004. A four year letter winner at the University, Mr. Holt played defensive end. After his graduation Mr. Holt returned to Gadsden County where he became a teacher and Coach in the Gadsden County Public School system. During his time as a coach in the Gadsden County School System. Mr. Holt was an assistant Coach responsible for coaching special teams, tight ends and the Defensive line. Mr. Holt has coached several players that went on to earn athletic scholarships in football. Mr. Holt views Get Better Inc. as doing his part to give back to the community that has done so much for him.
