Provide experiments, field trips, guest speakers and other nontraditional classroom activities to develop critical thinking skills as related to science.

Moderate

Students did not experience fieldtrips opportunities or guest speaker

N

Teachers will continue to incorporate research based instructional strategies learned during CARPD, AP, and Bioscopes professional development.

High

Both Biology teachers and one Chemistry teacher received CARPD training and one of the Biology teacher and one Chemistry teacher became NGCAR-PD certified. These three also participated in Bioscopes PD, Biology Partnership and Curriculum Track Training throughout the school year and the summer.

Y

Teachers will deliver lessons via SMART Board Activities, FCAT Explorer, in conjunction with science textbooks and other resources.

High

Lessons were developed via SMART Board technology.        Students were scheduled into the school's computer labs to interact with FCAT Explorer in conjunction with science textbooks, which provided excellent SMART Board activities and other resources.

Y

AP classes and two STEM academies are available to provide avenues of acceleration for advanced learners.

High

One AP Biology class; one AP Chemistry class, one Medical Skills  Class and one Agri- Science foundations class were added to the school's curriculum

Y

Teachers will conduct laboratory experiences at least once each week.

Moderate

Weekly lab occurred in the two Biology classes and; the Chemistry classes; but not the Physical Science classes nor the Environmental Science class.

N

Labs supplies and materials have been ordered according to teachers' request and more are available upon request.

High

Lab and supplies and materials were ordered according teacher's request. Throughout the teachers were encouraged to track items that would have to be ordered at the beginning of the 2012-13 school terms.
